1st MP Inhouse/public Contest for 2006: GARRISON GUARDS (Mar 05, 2006)
I. OBJECTIVE:
To build the best Mass-Produced MS as a base / garrison / airfield / shore guard…. but still a cannon-fodder.
II. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
1. All Bandai Kits of Mass-Produced MS, all scales, graded or ungraded, except SD (example: Zaku, GM, Ginn, Nemo, Hi-Zack, Serpent Custom, etc.);
2. Should depict the MS as a base/garrison/airfield/shore guard with minimal weapons;
3. Weapons must be short/medium range PROJECTILE-TYPE and MELEE weapons only. However, in the case of the Magella Tank Top Cannon, and the NFHI·GMCa-type.09/180mm cannon, which are long range weapons, such weapons may be allowed. Beam Sabers are allowed; No prototype/customized weapons;
4. Strict timeline is to be observed. No mixture of weapons from different timelines unless justified; (ex. GM II is a 0087 unit, but can use the old Beam Spray Gun)
5. No Add-ons, weaponry, detail-ups, modifications that defeats the strict timeline observation;
6. Special Guard Markings SHOULD be applied to the MS. (example: the Zabi Royal Guard markings) to create a distinction between a regular unit, special ops unit, or a sniper unit. Therefore, color differences/customizations are allowed;
7. Modifications will limit to Detail-Ups (B-Club, Kotobukiya, Bandai, etc). However, accessories/add-ons may be used to depict guard units. (long range camera, antenna, etc) No Electronic Warfare System is allowed…it is from a different unit;
8. Diorama entries not allowed. However, stands/flight stands WITHOUT details are required, but not necessary;
9. Participant can enter up to THREE (3) entries only.
10. Minimum of TEN (10) entries to open the contest.
11. There will be 2 categories, MP and non MP (public).
III. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:
1. Assembly Skills (absence of mold lines, flash, inappropriate gaps, proper parts alignment, completeness, absence of excess adhesive marks, proper modifications, parts detail-up) -- 30%
2. Painting (smooth paint texture, unless for obvious reasons, absence of overspray, brush streaks, complete paint coverage, color line separation from masking/brushing/spraying, overall color combination) – 30%
3. Detailing (includes parts and paint detailing like shading and paneling, weathering, functional parts, proper decal/marking positioning and usage) – 20%
4. Presentation (all entries are not required to have their kits paneled and/or shaded as long as the overall presentation is impressive, then a high score is given. At first glance, is the model impressive? Even to the audience? Impact varies from distance. The model may look good from a distance but turns out ugly at close-up) – 20%
