2nd MP Inhouse Contest for 2007: OMNI Mecha

I. OBJECTIVE:
To build and/or mutate/mutilate a "NEW" Mobile Suit Unit in any way you want it!!!

II. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
1. Bandai Gunpla kit Series in all scales (PG, MG, FG, HG, HGUC, UCHG, ungraded) are eligible as entries. However, do NOT copy or make further improvements on already existing versions, variants, or linearts of mobile suits/armor. (e.g. Powered GM, Perfect Gundam, Zaku Sniper, Zaku Recon) Creativity and uniqueness here is encouraged.

2. Detail-up parts, extreme add-ons and kitbashing is allowed, and even encouraged!!!

3. Any color scheme.

4. Diorama entries not allowed.

5. Bases/Flight stands (without detail) allowed.

6. Maximum of 3 entries per person.

7. Minimum of five (5) entries to open the contest.

III. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:
1. Assembly Skills (absence of mold lines, flash, inappropriate gaps, proper parts alignment, completeness, absence of excess adhesive marks, proper modifications, parts detail-up) -- 30%

2. Painting (smooth paint texture, unless for obvious reasons, absence of overspray, brush streaks, complete paint coverage, color line separation from masking/brushing/spraying, overall color combination) – 30%

3. Detailing (includes parts and paint detailing like shading and paneling, weathering, functional parts, proper decal/marking positioning and usage) – 20%

4. Presentation (all entries are not required to have their kits paneled and/or shaded as long as the overall presentation is impressive, then a high score is given. At first glance, is the model impressive? Even to the audience? Impact varies from distance. The model may look good from a distance but turns out ugly at close-up) – 20%

ADDENDUM:
1. Entry should use a Bandai Gunpla Kit as a BASE MODEL for your kitbash and modification. The finished product should retain at least 50% original Bandai. However, you are not required to maximize the 50% limit.

2. If the kit uses more than 50% modification using other brands and aftermarket parts versus the original Bandai base model, the entry is disqualified. The 50% rule is not based on number of parts used but the overall appreance that it came from the gundam universe or its feasibility/possibility to be a mobile suit.

Example: Base model (50%) + kitbash using other Bandai Gunpla kits (20%) + mods (15%) + Aftermarket parts (15%) + scratchbuilding (10%).

Again, do not take this "math" literally. It's an estimated percentage of the finished product, and the percentage varies except for the base model. Some may use the 50% as the inner frame, some the armor, and some mix-match armor and frame of an original Bandai gunpla kit.
